What is the difference between standard and longframe?
Please be advised that these are STANDARD TRS and NOT Longframe/Military TRS

The long frame military plugs are the same as GPO plugs, just a different name I believe. Not that this apply to this patchbay in question, because you don't need them, but incase anyone ever does.....the model from neutrik is NP3TB. My patchbays use these. I have a bunch of different cable and connector brands in my patch cable collection. The easiest way to tell the difference if you are in a hurry, between these and standard TRS is that the tips of GPO plugs are more rounded than standard TRS plugs. There are other differences, but if I am grabbing patch cables etc in a hurry from where I have them hanging up, that is the difference that is really obvious at a quick glance.

There are three types of patch connector plugs I know of that are commonly found:
a) The standard TRS jack plug like you find for headphone sockets etc
d) The GPO (General Post Office) stereo plugs that used to be common in manual telephone exchange plugs, older pro audio, military installations etc. My patchbays use these. Plugs like the Neutrik NP3TB fit here.
c) The smaller TT bantam plugs found in many console patchbays. Example: Neutrik NP3TT

The standard TRS plug and the Military long frame specification
The standard TRS plug and the Military long frame specification are different. The military long frame is has a different tip as you've noted but it is also slightly wider and the overall length is slightly longer. The Mil Spec long frame also is not uniform in thickness it's entire length unlike the 'normal' TRS plug. You can look up the PDF drawings if you don't believe me.
The smaller TT bantams are of course most obviously different though they are technically a mil spec item in origin.

They are quite obviously different and not interchangable. I only noted the differences at a quick glance when grabbing a patch cable off a rack. These pictures show the differences> One shows a standard Proel TRS plug, the other is a military long frame plug also known as a GPO plug. It is a Neutrik NP3TB plug

Longframe TRS or TS plugs/jacks are a bit longer and a tiny bit bigger in circumference. The military aircraft standard was designed to maximize contact potential. Standard TRS plugs may or may not work in a long frame jackfield as they will be a bit loose and short (and in this instance slapping the sides won't count). Longframe plugs going into a standard sized jackfield will not work well either because they will be a little big and a little long. I await the ensuing comments with great anticipation.
