I own both platforms and I've been a longtime Cubase user.

Not satified with the recent status of the Mac version I was considering a move to the PC version.

I went and checked the PC forum at Cubase.net only to that matters appear to be worse on the PC side.

The main issue of contention is "Poof", the random disapearence of the app while in use.

The traffic is so heavy at the site, the site timed out and I couldn't ask if all versions suffer from this bug, or if it was a specific update.

Anybody using SX, what are your impressions on the stability and functionality of SX?

Looks like they are about to loose their newly accquired x-Logic users.

Hi!
I've been a Logic-Mac user for years in the studio. But now when I decided to get a DAW for my home studio I decided to build a PC-DAW.
This decision came after reding the post by OPUS2000 on this forum. So I finally build my PC-DAW (guided by OPUS) ... and also decided to go for Cubase SX since MAC bought Emagic.
I must say that SX is workig great... the only problems I've got so far is when I use some freeware VSTi and the arpeggiator in SX.
Otherwise it's working great. I also use v. 1.03... haven't upgraded to 1.05 yet.
I think that the reason that the cubase forums is mainly PC-troubles is that so many PC user just put Cubase SX in Office or gameplying-configured PC's and work with cheap soundcards. The Mac-users are mainly professionals running with better soundcards etc. I think that OPUS can convince you that PC is the way to go here.
If you let him (and other RO-gurus) help you to configure your system you will have a great time with PC-CubaseSX.
Good Luck!

Well, understand this...forums are there for troubleshooting and help...you're not going to see someone posting that everything works great...
yes, there are some known issues about the magic "poof" issue in SX but most of it is working great. I know people doing lots of production work with that software and never have any problems.

Then again most of what I work in is Nuendo but SX recently since it's a hell of a program.
Right now concentration is on Nuendo 2.0 and some SX issues...hopefully within the next month or so the SX issues will be solved and won't be an issue no longer

SX on a mac under OS X does have some issues as do a few other programs. I know Logic actually runs incredibly well but there are some major hardware driver issues still to be tackled on the OS X platform still.

Also remeber that the PC is truly multi threading and has been for a long time whereas OS X is the first multi threading OS that apple has released.
I guess the "panther" version  of OS X is going to be released very soon and that is supposed to be the best "yet" on that platform...they keep saying that though! lol

Anyhue, a PC right now will be the way to go as it's cheaper and a lot more flexible in terms of configurations.

Mac's "used" to be the top DAWg so to speak but PC's are advancing more so than ever.
