I'd like to get either a multi-channel preamp like Focusrite Octopre or a single channel strip.

Required:
digital output(s)

Nice to have:
compressor
tube
multi-channel

Not so required:
eq

Price:
like to buy it used if possible.

Must work well with U87, RODE NT1000, ADK Vienna Edition, AKG Solidtube and SM57. Will be plugged into Digi 002 rack so preferable input would be ADAT lightpipe or SPDIF.

What are pros and cons of different alternatives? Anything that come to your minds are appreciated.

P.

I have 3 of the octi-pre units that I use in a mobile/live recording rig. I picked them up mainly because they fit my budget for the project but I have really grown to like them for lots of things. They seem to be very clean sounding and the compressor/limiter on every channel is pretty cool to have at such a price as well.

Hi

The digi 002 has focusrite preamps in it! If you want a step up, then go for a multipurpose single channel like a Millennia stt-1. Otherwise, the digi 002 preamps are fine IMO.

Yes I'm aware that those are Focusrite, but 1) according to what I've heard they are rather basic compared to a dedicated preamp 2) ASIO monitoring is always an inconvienience considering setup and latency
