Switched to 24 bit card (Gina), now recording comes in s
Hi I have the following equip.
Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro
RNC Compressor
Shure SM58
Echo Gina 24/96
SB Live Plat 5.1
Pent 4 1.5 Ghz, 384 rdram, 80 gig (7200rpm).
Opinions Needed, part 1: S/PDIF vs. . 24 bit DACs
Since I bought the Tascam US-428 I have been eyeing that little yellow S/PDIF input. One of my synths (Motif 7) has S/PDIF out option should I choose to buy it. However, the synth also has 24 bit DACs, which sound great going into the 428.
16 vs. . 24 bit with condenser mics
hi. i've been having a problem lately with my c1000 condenser mics making a crackling kind of noise when i track straight to my hard drive. they don't do it normally. and when i set up a 57 to my hard drive i also won't get the crackling.

New 24 bit A/D vs. . a great old 18 bit
I'm going to be getting an A/D converter in the next week or so. I was going to get the Lucid 2496 but I found an 18-bit Mytek for less. I know the Mytek was really expensive back in the day, how would it compare to a new Lucid or Rosetta? Being 2496 compatible isn't all that important to me right now as I don't have any other gear that can handle it. Good sound is the only consideration.

Is There 24 bit 2tk software ?
I've just installed my SECOND pro-sound card, (the first being a ZA2 which does killer sample rate conversions, but was only 16 bit).
I just added a Lex Core 2 card since it claims to be 24 bit. The problem is this; the software included looks and smells 16 bit out to me (Cool Edit). Am I missing something?
So again, I ask...is there a 24 bit 2 track software ?

Masterlink 24 bit CD's to mastering?
Does the mastering house need a masterink, or have
SADIE
&
sonic soultions
Got it together to be able to read the CD's? Every attempt to ask this question at trade fairs has resulted in a piss poor 'shoulder shrug' from the guys that build both mastering systems. Assholes.

DAT's, CD/R's, 24bit Files, ?
Any mastering dudes have any preferences for media type?
Clients (college/high school kids mind you) keep asking me to mix my 24bit mixes to DAT cuz they think all the pro's do it.

Bundle 2 vs. . Bundle 3 - 20 vs. . 24 bit input
Hello all,
I'm considering Paris for a project studio and was looking for comments on the difference in the 20 and 24 bit inputs.
I'm really trying to decide whether a Bundle 2 setup will serve OK or whether I might as well start w a Bundle 3.
Are there many users happy with a Bundle 2? It sounds like the MEC and Bundle 3 is the starting point for most everyone.
