Here is another test I did today to compare Sound Devices Mixpre-6 vs Tascam HS-P82.
It's not a strictly scientific test, but I think one can get the taste of how both recorders compare in sonic quality.
One of them is called Recorder_01, the other is Recorder_02, for obvious reasons.
Mic Splitter box, any recommendations? I want it for comparing various preamps . Would this work: pro/ cons?

There's a music event next week that I have to record, and I was hoping to get some advice. There will be about 10-12 channels (3 vocals, guitarist, percussion, and a few other instruments), and we are using a Mackie Onyx 1640i which has a Firewire interface. I have a Dell Precision 6600 PC laptop (8 GB, Quad Core i7, approx 150GB free space), and I'll be using Mixcraft 6 as my DAW.

Are there mixers that allow you to have a different output for multiple inputs.
Or is there a way to get this to work?
I would really like to be able to control the levels for multiple outputs from one location so it is easier to adjust.

I want something clean to go along with my sm7 since it is already a colored mic.

I've been in and out of the forums the past two/three years trying to figure some stuff out. So far, we are back to square one.
First, let me give you all the setting. We are a church of about 350 and have pretty rocking music and dynamic services. It is our goal to get setup for TV, web streaming, CD production, etc.
I've been recording live shows for a relatively short time, with good/great results. Ive been using a mix of Y cables and running my own mics into a digi and octopre.
