Bias Voltage
A low DC voltage typically supplied by a body-pack wireless transmitter to power a condenser microphone. Not to be confused with phantom power.

A grade of recording tape that has been designed to reduce the amount of bias a recording deck needs to apply in order to achieve high-frequency reproduction. Since less bias is required, you get less noise in the recording.
An electrical current that is sent through the tape heads during recording in order to insure that a minimum level of magnetization is going on at all times. This increases the frequency response of the recording by making it easier for high frequency portions of a signal to reach tape.
What is the best method of setting the bias for the Tascam 122 MKIII cassette deck? The method in the manual gives mixed results at best.
hi all, i've posted the same question in the project studio forum. i've been using 456 in my 1/2" 16 track, and am wondering how much of a bias/calibration issue running 996 would be?
thanks in advance!
I'll record a friend next weekend and just found out that there is no 456 anymore in town, I'll have to use GP9 or cancel the session cause I can't get my machine rebiased (a fostex g24s, 1")
What will happen if i'm using the wrong tape? I'm recording something noisy, ambient, so I don't need super clean sterile sounds
any advices? thanks
Hi all,
I'm new here, just discovered this place!
Here's my situation:
I recorded a stereo file through my new USBPre into Peak...
Just for fun I downloaded trial versions of both peak & t-racks, and was amazed how much fun I had. I also learned a lot about how to prepare for pro mastering etc.
IK and Bias had both of these on sale and I purchased them. The T-racks is the analog modeled mastering plugin .
Anybody work with this thing? I just got it and am running my mixes though it- I can tweak them with eq to sound better but haven't been able to get them louder- I got some demos I would like to send out with a little more volume but don't really want to pay for mastering as these are demo songs and if the songs are picked up they will get rerecorded anyway... any help is appreciated :D
Has anyone here used either of these? I downloaded the free versions tonight and have been messing around with them for the past few hours. So far, they seem to be pretty deicent programs. I also downloaded Traktion earler today too. Im re- deciding which DAW i would like to purchase at the moment because i have just recently decided not to go with Cubase SX.
