Hybrid Buffer in Daw
I've noticed several daws are implementing a form of hybrid buffer (reaper, studio one, cubase?, Possibly others) where there is a separate buffer for the audio playback tracks and the tracks record enabled.

Hi, I tried googling this, but every answer I'm reading is over my head. Buffer Size is something people advise changing. But for reference, I don't know what a buffer is nor do I know how to find my buffer settings. Someone else said to watch your CPU/HD meter, and I again don't know what those are, nor how to change them.

I decided to check how the latency was with the fireface 800 I just got.
I'm set at 512 and decide to do a round trip through my 2 LA-610.
The chain was, line out of the RME, line in of the LAs, AD96 and S/PDIF to the RME.
I took a drum sample that I played and recorded the re-amp version.
Crackling sound during recording
Hello! My first post on the site (been lurking for a while). The community here seems to be very helpful and knowledgeable, so I thought this would be a great place to seek help.
I'm having some sound issues with my home recording. There is some "crackling" and "popping" sounds during the recording of my vocals.

it was always crackling and popping, then i went through PreSonus's optimization for windows 7 page and it seemed to fix the problem, except when i try using midi (my whole reason for buying the product... sigh..)
Anormal VST Performance in CubaseSX3!
Hi Guys! I'm running the same setupt for 2 years now and I never had any issues concerning VST Performance. 2 days ago I moved and then I re-installed my setup in my new home and problems appeared..
Can latency cause bad performances?
Has anyone noticed any problems with performances because of recording latency? I've tried using Logic to record vocals, and the singer had real problems (and rightly so!). I usually use PT for this, and I've noticed it's much tighter, but obviously there will be some delay involved.
