Recording setup for Chamber Music

Currently I am in charge of recording a Chamber Music Concert and need to have a better quality audio setup. Currently I use a RODE NTG1 Shotgun Mic running into a Zoom H4N. I shoot from the back of the hall or the balcony. But have realised that the sound out of the Zoom H4n's mic sounds better than the NTG1 for that hall.

Microphones for live recording of classical chamber music concert ?

Forums

My chamber music group (violin, viola, cello and piano) will perform in several cities, and we would like to bring portable equipment to these concerts in order to record these performances for archival purposes. If we bring a Mackie 802-VLZ3, what mid-priced microphones would work best in our particular case, and should we go for the ORTF, or a different positioning system ?

Need stereo mic to round out chamber music recording rig

Forums

Hi Everyone,
I've been poking around on this forum for a few days and appreciate the level of education.

Here's my situation.
I am a countertenor (think classical opera singer male alto) who needs to buy the last component of my traveling recording setup.
I have my little MacBook and my 24/96 Firebox (it sounds good with clean mics).

Recording Piano in Chamber Music

The thread on recording solo piano got me thinking about the challenges of spot Micing piano on chamber music concerts. I record a lot of chamber music with piano. Generally, there are two to seven string players or wind musicians situated in front of the piano. And they all like to snuggle up to the piano and play right in front of it.

Using bathroom or laundry as mic room/ echo chamber ?

Forums

Hi guys

i was watching a documentry about Tin Pan Alley and how they created the echo chamber by recording in the bathroom, because of the reverb coming off the chiprock.

if wanting to record at home, would you recommend using these technic or can you give me any advice into creating a affordable echo chamber mic room.

cheers
