I have been reading about how to record and master music. I played all instruments and recorded a song in my little 14' x 14' studio. I have been using Sonar 8.5 for 3 months. I posted this song last week, but everyone here said that it was very muddy, so I have been working on it this week.

My question is:

How loud should it be, or should it not be?

With PT9, Pro Tools is now available as a software-only DAW. So now software to software comparisons of the major DAWs can be made without all of those hardware demons lurking in the back of our minds. I'd like to encourage those of you with extensive experience on multiple DAWs to chime in with comparisons of (1) workflow (2) features and (3) technical specs.

Hey, guys. I have come to the point where I must decide what DAW software to purchase. I plan to rely heavily on MIDI orchestration/instrumentation as well as live instrumentation for my music. Because I plan to incorporate MIDI, I have been told that it would be to my benefit to buy Cubase 5, as its MIDI capabilities are some of the best.

Hi people, I am have problem that I really need to fix. I am using Cockos Reaper, and an Alesis i/o 26 firewire interface. Just recently, Reaper has started to completely slow down and freeze after I put in maybe 4 tracks with some heavy VST plugins. This is a big problem because I need a lot of plugins.

Hi everyone, hope you can help, so ive mixed my track in cubase, mastered it and ive made it as lowd as i can without the song clipping, but its still not as lowd as it should be, can anyone help with this

I want to start recording my songs, they are basically acostic guitar and vocals, but I'm wondering if anyone knows what a good basic microphone would be and software for my pc, or any other equipment i might need. right now the only equipment I have is my guitar, and computer.
