I've been challenged in the last 19 months to create music VERY fast for video projects. I created a video showing the process I've been using to get better drums sounds using stock logic drum tones. I prefer recording drums with a real drummer however this has been a fantastic challenge in its own right.
I'm tracking an ep currently that is a trip-hop, rock, jazz group.
Spent allot of time at the mic and drums getting the sound as close as possible to what we want, now it's time to emphasize that.
The drums sound i'm after for most of the songs is along the lines of the drums you can hear in these two songs.
Lately I'm re-listening some of the The Roots albums as well as some acts from electronic scene who use acoustic drums like Nerve.
Songs like
I use (like everybody) an extra hall for Snare, extra for Toms and extra for the kick. Would you suggest another one for the whole set?
It sounds strange when youcan hear a Hall on the snare, toms, kick and the O.Hs and hi-hat is "dry".
