Over the years, I've had 5 hard drives go out on me, and they were all drives used for A/V work. No other drive has ever failed me, except after a long and healthy life. I've got drives that are measured in megabytes that still work, but they weren't A/V drives.

So, it seems a pattern has emerged, at least for me.

My hdd hard drive in my computer has failed. I am very glad I did a full back up two days before it happened. This time I'm going with an ssd drives sense it's faster and I use a laptop it will be a more durable option. I don't know what to tell my clients though. It's going to be a week or two until I get the new hard drive and I have deadlines Friday.

Ok, I've been losing sleep, hair and probably tooth enamel (from grinding them) on a similar issue. I've had an HD24 for 7 years. Power went out while I was gone for three days this summer. I had everything on an UPS. Which of course did not last that long. The HD will turn on correctly if the drive caddie is not in it.

need help choosing hard drive and firewire card

Hey Guys,

So I am new to recording and have a few questions. I recently purchased a Saffire Pro 40 Firewire interface.

My friend is lending me his computer to record, but it needs an internal hard drive and PCI firewire card. I also need an external hard drive for storage.

So lay it on me: what is important in selecting each of these?

Amazon has a one-day sale on a 2TB Seagate for $95. I have no idea if it's any good for audio - they don't even specify the spin rate. But Moore's law or no - as someone who started with the 8088 chip, this just makes my jaw drop a bit. For those of you who are not surprised...Get off my lawn.

I have been to Avid and posted there with not much help other than to be told I need to get a fire wire external hard drive. The issue is I cannot record to the USB 2.0 1 TB external hard drive I have now. I can save to it but can use it to record to. I have to use the internal hard drive and designate it as the record hard drive.

Hi all

Got a question, I've got a couple of bands on my hard drive, if I click on the folders they add up to about 35 gigs. They are the only thing on the 250 gig hard drive, hidden files are enabled. When I click on disk properties it says I've used up 150gigs, is there something Cubase is hiding or the way I'm saving the files?
