Gain Staging with High-End Gear
Hello everyone,
Can't seem to get a straight forward answer about gain staging with high-end gear . I'm using all transformer coupled preamps, API's and Dakings going into Apogee Symphony Converters. Up until then my recording peak levels into Cubase was anywhere from -20db to -12db on a full scale.

I sampled 15 snare drums using high-end gear (Vintech, Lavry...) !
Hello guys, here is a new product : my snare drum collection !
Anyone own any high-end Channel Strips &/or Preamps
I'm looking into some new gear in my quest to get that full, bright, balanced, "expensive studio" sound. Mainly I record instrumental stuff: keyboards, sampled drums from my MPC-4000, direct bass, and miked guitar. I never record more than 2 tracks at a time. There's so many choices as far as preamps, channel strips, EQ and compressors, it's really hard to choose what to buy.
those high-end vintage mic remakes
hi guys, i've been reading a lot about companies that do expensive remakes of the old classic mics (U47, C12, ELAM 251 etc), but unfortunately the majority of the info i can find comes from the companies own web sites or web sites that sell the brands. obviously not the least biased information. i've been checking out designs by wagner, korby and soundelux.

My first high-end gear for mastering.. which would you r
Hi friends..
I think it is already time to leave junior school, project days where I do everything with pluins, digital console and PT.
I do not want to sell one kidney, but which would you recommend me as a "pro" entry gear for more serious mastering?
I just do not want to be seen as "one more guy playing mastering stuff with plugins.."
Emagic don't care about their High-End Users
I got chatting with a Digidesign employee yesterday and we got discussing how long it will be before Logic announce support of the HD system.
The last time we spoke about this the time frame was a little hard to swallow, but now he says that Emagic don't think there is any call for them to upgrade Logic for Pro Tools HD support!

which high-end mic to borrow?
This may be impossible for anyone to answer, but I figure I'd ask anyway. After being "retired" from the record thing for about 10 years, I'm taking a shot with a young singer/songwriter I met out here in the sticks. She is a great talent both as singer and writer, and we will be recording the "keeper" vocal tracks in a month or so.
