Audio-Technica large diaphragm condenser mics
Ok, before I launch into my question, I want to let you guys know that I did read the AT4033 vs AT4040 thread, and tried to find as much info that was already posted before starting a new thread... I don't want to waste time re-debating, but I have a specific question.
recording a valve amp with a large-diaphragm conderser
Can anyone tell me his/her opinion about recording a guitar (valve) amp with large-diaphragm condenser. I'll surely believe there have been a few topics about this, but i'm to lazy to find out. So! If someone want to tell me about his/her expierences! thank you!
$400 to $600 Large Diaphragm Condenser Mic
Hey guys, you may want to throw this one into Budget Gear but I'll try it here first.
I'm looking to spend $300-$600 on a large diaphragm condenser mic and would love some advice. The main use will be for vocals, but of course I want something versatile to use on amps, acoustic guitars etc.

Good 1st Large Diaphragm Mic
Looking into getting a nice large diaphragm condenser mic. I currently possess a pair of AKG 451's, some 57's/58's, and an assortment of Audix D mics (1's, 2's, and a 4). Will be using this setup with a home DAW setup. Recording rock/blues/typical crap.

Large diaphragm Mic
HI all!
I am planning to buy a new Large diaphragm Mic to my studio. I am thinking in a CAD E200 or the new RODE NTK. Here in Argentina prices are very different than in the rest of the world. For exaple, the CAD E 200 costs about U$S 800, and the RODE NTK is expected to cost about U$S 1.000.- and an AKG 414 is about USU 1.400.-

Large diaphragm & phantom power
Just a quick question. When dealing with big expensive studio mics that require phantom(or any condser, really), is it better to plug the mic in first, then activate the phantom power, or the other way around? Why?
Thanks,
