Does anyone here have any experience with the Manley VoxBox in comparison to other pro preamps such as GML or Flamingo? Anyone not like the sound from this unit?

I just hooked my brand new MU in today and I got a shocking suprize! I have it going direct in to the stereo incerts of a Mackie 32 channel mixer.

The cables are Monster 500 series XLR to ring tip sleeve and work fine for my Distressors.

Well, I suppose it HAD to happen sooner or later. I finally found something that my much-loved Manley VoxBox DIDN'T sound good on!

A friend of mine was offered a 4 year old Manley Dual Mono Block Mic Pre with low hours in pristine condition.

What is a fair price for that unit?

During a vocal recording today, I noticed the occasional click on the recording (similar to that created when a digital system can't quite cope or it's clocks are out of sync) about once every minute or so. After checking all of the clocks etc. I realised that it was coming from pre-ADC source (I saw one spike on the pre-amp during a take). The mic is a Manley valve Reference.

I'm thinking of purchasing a Manley stereo tube DI, anyone here have any experience with them? Also what's the best price on one?

Went through the 3DAudio mic preamp CDs and found that I know little about what makes a great mic preamp. Love to hear from you guys.

I need a good mic preamp, Just single channel. Which is the best buy the 737 (I've heard mixed results on the compressor), the Manley single channel mic preamp, or the Great River 2 channel? I'll probably buy the FMR when it comes out so I'm thinking of shying away from the Great River to get a tube model.
