I've recently started working with a particular workflow that I used to do all the time back when I was on consoles... I have no explanation as to why I've not been doing it in DAW land, I mean, it's not like I just started mixing on DAW platforms last week, LOL...
I am sure there's many opinions regarding this question But I am looking for a great one size fits all stereo compressor in and out of the box.
i'm unhappy with my mixbus compared to what i was used to with my "in the box" daw, i now use digital performer with MOTU interfaces.
I would like some hints about applying compression across the mix bus. I'm unsure about attack and release times, ratio, and threshold parameters. I understand what these parameters do, but don't feel confident setting them. I'm using an AMEK 9098compressor in Pro Tools. I'm doing a lot of pop/rock mixes. If anyone has any thoughts I would greatly appreciate some direction.
Hey guys.I have the much hyped (for good reasons) RNC in my rack.So I strapped it across my main mix inserts to get more juice off the mixes. I am in super nice mode to get that triple compression thing. Is it me or there is no way to get usable boost off this box for my mixes, without hearing it pump.I tried every configuration I can think of.
I am really eager to se this...

Digi's new 5.3.1 software will have a new mix bus, here is some preliminary info on it. I'll have more info on my website this week end. There is more details in the Pro Tools section int the DAW forum.
Maybe you would like to hear the difference?. This was tracked and mixed by a fellow engineer here in town. This was a big daddy session too. 60 piece orchestra at Ocean Way on the 80 input Neve 8078. (Session cost came out to something like $1.60 per second!)
