I just bought an ART Tube MP Studio V3 preamp, and am plugging it into the "line in" input on my computer. It just came in yesterday, and for the ten minutes I had to play with it I was Micing my acoustic guitar. I got a great signal. Today I plugged my electric guitar directly into it, and it was barely giving me any gain.

Look .. this is the problem :
I noticed that my Brick has a balanced output but the FMR RNC needs an unbalanced input!
How do I handle this? Can I "unbalance" the line before it hits the RNC?
Out of curiousity I tried going into the FMR RNC with a balanced cable anyway and it works but there is some hum. It's also pretty low level and I have to crank up both the Brick and the RNC to get decent levels.

I'm having a horrible experience with my Tascam DP-01FX Digital Recorder. Most recently (today, two hours ago), it has undergone such a mode where I cannot turn off the machine properly, exit song, or press basically any button without receiving a "Not Stopped" message.
I did some searching and didn't really find anything that matched my setup/problem. I was using an 828 along with a Mackie CFX-20 for the pres/monitoring for the longest time, until recently I upgraded my computer to a home built. I also upgraded my interface to a MOTU 2408 mkIII PCIe and removed the mixer from the equation. I picked up a used Focusrite Octopre and installed the digital card.
I've just installed Cubase VST v5 on my PC and have a problem syncing up to my Alesis HD24. The HD24 is sending MTC to the PC via a Creative 'Livedrive' front panel. Both Cubase an HD24 are running 30fps and the HD24 is running as master. Cubase will start/start/rewind/fast forward and pause from the HD24 trasport controls, but the sync seems to slip.
hey guys i brought this question up before but i had no luck. I am using a mac g5 and i am trying to connect this external hard drive that i had laying around so i can record straight to it. I try to play my pro tools files off of the drive and it says that the drive needs to be set up for play back and record in workspace.
I am wondering if these mics are suceptable to long cables. I tried to use a pair for the first time in a Cathedral yesterday for a Choral recording but they were unusable because of hum and other noise.
A pair of DPA4006 and a Neumann SM 69 were fine on the same cables.
I just got this thing setup and my condenser mic plugs in and works properly but I'm having trouble getting any sound when I plugin my guitar or bass into the instrument input.
Any ideas?
