I know it's been a long wait for a picture of the new. . wait for it. TUBE EQ! So here it is. It is a Pultec EQP-1A style EQ, with high voltage tube makeup gain just like the original! It utilizes CineMag input and output transformers, a CineMag inductor, Tung Sol high-end tubes out of the box (12AX7 and 12AU7).
Particularity on the Pulse Techniques EQP 1A3 . Not interested in other clones.
I'm addicted to Pultec's this month and want to know how sweet the high-endis on the SS compared to the tube version?

I'm wanting a classic mid range EQ mainly for vocals. Anyone ever have the opportunity to use the Pultec MEQ5 Midrange EQ. There is an SS version but this one has the API gain stage. What do you think the difference is vibe would be?
Anyone use the A-Designs Audio EM-PEQ? I'm looking to add a Pultec style to my hybrid chain. How quiet is this and what's your opinion?

It's just been pointed out to us that our Pultec MEQ-5 drops the signal level by almost 4 dB, which we've confirmed in our lab with a signal generator / analyser.
After changing ALL the valves the relative o/p level is now -3.5dB but I don't know if this particular unit is supposed to be "zero in, zero out" or if this signal drop is normal.
I used this Plugin on the Drum Bus and I was very imperessed.
Sounds very nice and clear to me.
Did anybody made an experience with this Plugin with any Instrument?

After having not used it for a few months, I have come back around to this guy. It does a good job as long as you don't need it to be too surgical. I finally have my head around the technique of boosting and cutting the high-endat the same time (which the Pultec was designed to do).
Universal Audio has just released their latest upgrade to their Powered pluginsthat run on the UAD-1 DSP card, version 2.2. This version includes the long awaited Pultec EQ! (Yeah!)
I haven't tried it, I just downloaded it...I'll let you know how it goes (and sounds!).

Any thoughts on the Bombfactory Pultec EQ- how it compares to the real thing?- I ask this even though BF have kindly illuminated me to the fact that 'pro' musicians don't use forums.

I know a lot of the biggies use Pultec type eq's. With the Langvin version coming out, it appears will be home studio affordable. What is the significance of a Pultec type eq? What does it sound like? Is it good on mixes, vocals, guitars, drums, bass?
