First time working on the Spark Practice Amp. One came in with a damage input Jack. Nice Product, well thought out design, and even sounds decent. The owner originally requested adding balanced Lineout, but ended up not going for it. The headphone out seems to do the trick, all be it unbalanced.
I am big fan of Rupert Neves stuff, and the Portico Series 5014 widener did not disappoint. Great attention to detail in this box!
The unit had a bad cap in the switchmode power supply filter.
For sometime now I have looking all over the net for a thread about the various ways to spice up your mic pre or compressor or well anything…. by adding a little subtle distortion.
Boxes like SSL alpha and UA twin infinity pre add a 2nd or 3rD harmonic generator that allows the user to dial in a bit of distortion.
