Hello Recording.org! My name is Josh Ray and I have been writing and recording music for 6 years, and I have been working in a home studio with my brother for the past two years. My experience with recording and mixing has taught me how important tuning and timing are in any mix. A pitchy vocal and/or a poor drum performance can muddy your final product before you even make it to mixing.
I am currently a student at Music Industry Arts in London, Ontario and we are studying Pro Tools and Logic. The topic we covered this week was how to quantize however, I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around it's uses (specifically for audio tracks such as vocals or guitars).
Is it possible to quantize an audio file using Pro Tools 5? All I want to do is be able to lay down some simple drum tracks using sounds from a Yamaha S80. Thanks!
Hello all. I just got done recording drum parts for some friends of mine and i want to edit the drums such as quantize, flex, and replace them. For some reason only certain takes well let me quantize them and others wont. The takes with a number of a take will let me example kick#119. Then the takes that say compO will not show up in the quantize area.
Can someone clear this up for me? I'm wondering about the theory and terminology regarding this. I understand if I record live I can get a good groove - it's not that I can't do it. That's not the purpose of my question. Like I said, I'm more interested in the actual terminology and theory...
Hello. I'm a pretty new kid on the block to logic, although I'm in college currently for Music REcording technology. I've been recording casually for awhile but I'm just now getting serious about it.
So yea, not the best keyboardist in the world here -- can Logic Express 8 do on-the-fly quantization when I'm recording in regions? The clean-up work after a take is a bit tedious, though I must admit that it's got me thinking about all of the soul and flavor that a region-wide quantization strips out of a take.
Hello, the scenario is this:
Band comes in and wants to track drums and bass together to get that feel (and be efficient) but also wants to quantize drums.
Do you:
A. Quantize drums and then edit the bass track to match the new drums.
B. Quantize drums and re-record bass.
I'm borrowing a rig from a buddy and there seems to be a very strange MIDI glitch that I can't get to the bottom of. Nuendo 1.52 running on XP, Delta 1010, ASIO drivers selected triggered by either my Peavey DPM C8 and or Radium 61. I've been using, well...trying to use VSTi as well as my Nord modular and JV-1010 and the results are identical.
