Hi gang,

As the years go by, I realise the good old days of big studios are fainting.

Audio product makers understood that long ago and they are responsable for a good part of it by selling affordable gear and advertising them as PRO audio equipment.

We've gone from a few home studios to nearly every musicians having one.

Preamp and A/D converter ideas

hello,

I have a question for you guys.

For our archive digitizing works, we are currently using a couple of Neve 1073DPD.

We will be needing 4 new channels, which would mean 2 other 1073 for around 5000$.

So I was wondering if you guys would have any ideas of some other gear that could do the trick for a little less money.

vintage tube mics: worth it or not?

Hey guys, I'm working on a mix of my cover of "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder. I think the vocal might be a bit low in the mix and a bit too congested around 300-500k/not bright enough. I used my new Telefunken Elam 251 and for the price, I'm trying to make decisions about whether or not I should hold onto it or go with another vintage tube that suits my voice.

hello i am using izotope ozone 7 to master my original songs and am having trouble with the overall loudness or dynamics of the things i master. for example when i listen to my reference tracks and turn up the volume on my headphones or monitors, i have no problem with distortion or have any problems with irritating my ears.

Mixing Critique

hi.. fairly new to mixing and mastering. Check out my mix and let me know what I can improve on. FYI, artist brought a YouTube beat to the session and didn't have wav files so it was a little hard for me to get all vox takes to sit in the mix so I fear it'll be either to loud or to soft compared to the beat. regardless let me know! Feedback is essential in my opinion. Thanks

I didn't want to step on anybody's thread but I just read one on which someone said ; gear doesn't make good recording, performance does.

I just have enough of those 'What's the most important thing' threads.

So lets just discuss it once and stop the future arguments!

Here's my thoughts, throw me rocks all you want ! ;)

I know the Lindell preamp is new and what not. I enjoy hearing random samples of preamps when I'm searching for a new preamp. Here's my contribution.
