AKG 451 plus CK-8 Short Shotgun

Forums

I read something today in the old products section of the AKG website on the old CK-8 capsule for the 451 preamp. I knew I had one of these inside a zepplin windshield in the store, but hadn't done anything much with it since I had other shotguns. What made me think was that AKG noted it's use on hand held vocals, where it was good at reducing popping.

Recommendations for Mid Side Shotgun mic Setup?

Forums

So I am fairly new to folly audio recording. I was looking around youtube for how folly artist (from a beginner standpoint) typically would go about getting into folly sound production. One video recommended that I could start with a mid side audio setup for doing stereo and mono sound and recording it into a zoom H4N. So is that what you guys would suggest?

How To Pick A Shotgun Mic

Forums

Since there aren't any stores (at least near me) where you can walk in and test a bunch of shotgun mics I was wondering a person decides on which one to buy. Reading reviews and watching You Tube videos is one thing but to really hear how it works you have to be there. If I'm going to spend $300 on a mic I want to hear it first, probably on some of my gear.

Sennheiser ME66 Popping During Takes

Hey everyone,

So I recently ran into a serious issue while on a location shoot.

I've never had any signal issues with any of my mics before, but for some reason, I've been getting a strange, periodic popping sound on my ME66. I have it plugged into channel one of my Tascam DR-680 and the other channels are usually taken up by my Sennheiser G3s.

Will RODE WSVM windsock fit snugly on a Sennheiser 416?

Forums

I'm told by the Sennheiser distributor there are currently no stocks of 416 windsocks. RODE 's WSVM accessory windsock, compatible with the NTG1 & 2 and Videomic according to their website, looks like it might fit. However they don't seem to sell one compatible with the NTG3 which I gather is their direct competition to the 416.
