Using sidechain to get a rhythmic effect in VST plugins
I'd like to experiment with the kind of rhythmic control over an instrument's signal level synced to a track as Johnny Marr did with his guitar on 'How Soon Is Now' in which a drum machine is inserted into a compressor's sidechain (see this YouTube demo).
How to use the VST plugin SideChain Gate/Expander
Any help would be appreciated :-)
I am trying to figure out how the side-chain portion of the gate works. The "manual" is useless, but I guess you get what you pay for :-O
The problem is that I'm not sure how to "route" a signal to the side-chain input.
Sidechaining vocals for a tighter sound?
I've heard mixes with lots of layered vocals that sounded with a precision I think humans are unable to obtain. I know a well rehearsed group can do awesome things, but these recordings were so precise as to be "machined", sort of a "dynamics-tune" instead of "auto-tune".

Sidechainable Frequency Agile Compressor?
I've searched high and low, and I can't seem to find a frequency agile compressor with a side chain function... I often use side chain comp on guitars to duck them a bit when the vox come in, and I want to experiment with whether this might be more transparent if I were just compressing the frequency ranges of the guiat most heavily occupied by the vocals...

pro tools le 8 compressor question...sidechain?
Hi everyone I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me the side chain feature on the stock compression plugin in pro tools le 8. Dyn 3.0 is where my settings have been saving in. Im interested in learning how to sidechain kick drum and bass to make the kick stand out more, and any other uses you may have found useful with it.
thanks
Sidechain
Also know as key input, a sidechain is a part of a circuit that splits off a portion of the main signal to derive a control signal. It can also be a secondary physical input on a processor, such as a compressor that allows control over the compressors functions according to the sidechain input. Examples are ducking and de-essing.

Parallel Processing/Side-Chaining
So most of us know the ducking trick with the kick and bass, sending things to "like" reverbs (ie vocal verb, drum verb, or just one for everything), but what else do you guys do? I'd like to learn some new skills. One I like to try is to set up a side-chain with a white noise generator and gate on the aux channel. It will be reading the snare.

Looking for a specific type of Sidechain Compressor
**Edit** my apologies, I posted this subject twice accidentally - forgot that I hit the forum with this question.
