Mixing Software

I hope I am in the right forum. I am new hear and don't have a lot of knowledge about this stuff just yet.

I will explain what I would like to do. I want to mix channels over a laptop so it's like a studio. I want to cover other peoples music, only without their voice, only their music. I want to dubb my voice in the songs to help me try and find my nature voice.

Least sophisticated equip, software, & setup for simultaneous MIDI & voice

Looking to record keyboard (MIDI) and vocal simultaneously at home. Have had Tascam 122 (never upgraded from Cubase that came w/it in 2005), a $60 Shure microphone, & Windows XP. Biggest question is how to record both simultaneously onto separate tracks. Do I need an interface to do both? Are there interfaces designed to do both simultaneously (as the 122 doesn't seem designed to)?

Session Organization Software

Ok, I need some ideas for organizing and tracking sessions in 2010. I used to use Apogee session tools but over the years (like 20 it seems) it's just become outdated. I've realized now that I have like 10 different programs keeping track of sessions, now I need something to pull it all together in a way that makes sense for todays sessions,

what software recommended to synth a vocal or drum recording

Forums

Can any recommend a software for Cubase 4 or 5 compatability to do synthesizing effects on drum and vocal analog recorded tracks. robic sounding vocal stuff and cool drum intro stuff etc. I downloaded a demo version of Alchemy(?) but couldn't figure out how to get it to do this even though they say it can. They have a cool demo video.

Band manager software.

Got my Crown XTi4000 today, and loaded Band Manager software. I started making a profile for the Peavey QW3's, which we usually x-over at 90hz. When I looked at the factory settings for the JBL jrx115's Crown uses 56hz hp as default. My question is should I run my QW3's below 90hz when they have 2 folded horns under them, and a Cerwin Vega 21 to take care of the bottom end? Any freq.
