Hi guys...well i was wondering if there is any audio monitoring mixer with a builtin SPL Meter... which can tell me how loud i m listning right now... it should'nt me based on mic but telling me the output level thats coming from the speakers right now...

What's a good level for mixing that will not hurt my ears, but will not cause me to make the bass too loud? I'm making bass-heavy electronic music, but I want it to sound nice and crisp in the mid-highs.

I have a question about measuring levels with a little radio shack spl meter. If with nothing playing i measure around 70 dB or so, then let my music play and its around 85 or 90 dB then how loud am i really referencing my music? I measure in my car while driving and in the control room all the time and dont really know nor understand exactly how loud i am listening.

there were a number of very interesting posts that talked about the use of the analog Radio Shack SPL/dB meter to get an idea what kind of frequency response one is getting in their control room. The gadget is rather inexpensive so I went for it and gave it a go.

Could someone tell me which of the two would work best for someone who would basically be using it to check monitoring levels?
