Real Guitars? Or can we just go the VSTi route?

All my music of the last ten years falls into chillout, or classical really. Rarely voices, apart from the show tracks and stuff like that - but the stuff I put out there is slowish mainly, and orchestral or synthetic in nature. My guitars get used live with the band, but my own recordings are pretty old-fashioned. I'm happy with this.

Master Wordclock from the RME UFX vs Mytek AD96 ?

Alright gang,

During break time, I've rewired my studio desk entirely and I'm just wondering about which should be the master wordclock.
I've been said that the Mytek Clock is very good but it kinda date now.
In the past, when my FF800 was my main interface, I made the Mytek the master clock and it was running fine
But with the new UFX, I thought having my main audio interface be the master is a better idea..
Now I'm asking you, am I right or the mitek still surpass the UFX...

My actual wordclock chain :

Focusrite ISA vs Warm Audio WA273-EQ?

Hi gang,

My GAS makes me suffer these days and I contemplate the idea to sell one of my 2 UA LA-610 and replace it with something else.

I'm tempted by the WA273-EQ but I'm wondering if it will be better than the ISAs or not.
I have 8 ISA preamps and they are my favorites..
I could buy a used ISA 428 (4 preamps) for about the same price of a WA273-EQ (2 preamps).

Polarity vs Phase - Why do I need to know this? (video)

Polarity vs Phase - Why do I need to know this ?

Polarity and Phase are 2 things that anyone who does music production needs to master.
Even if you only have a home studio, as soon as you start to use more than one microphone to record or if you are doing a lot of overdubs with the same instrument and mic.

Knowing what phase and polarity is will help to avoid mistakes that can diminish the sound quality of your music.

Warm audio WA-47jr VS ... ?

Hi there..

In this video I compare the warm audio wa-47jr to 2 other mics that share the same kind of capsule and EQ curve.. The Neumann U47 inspired mics all have a bit less high frequencies than other general condenser mics.. They are perfect for HF aggressive instruments and sibilant voices..

I'm building a S-87 and soon will do a few videos about it. I will also include the mics in this video. So stay tuned

Let me know what you think..

Terratec DMX 6Fire vs SSL2 for ShureSM7B

I know absolutely nothing about this stuff so I just wanted to check with you which one is better.
Im planning to record some youtube videos and the mic I'm going to use is Shure SM7B. So since its an XLR mic I need some sort of audio interface.

I know SSL2 is going to work fine with Shure but I already have Terratec DMX 6Fire, do you think this will work fine?
