i've got the TMD8000 with 2x DA-88 and 2x DA-38. Should I connect the wordclock interface, or not. If so, should the DA-88 with syncboard be master. What do I gain using this setup?
I used it since purchase with just the tdif cables and clock coming from dig.signal. never had a problem.
Well, here's the deal: the DA-88 used the original TDIF 1.0 spec
Well, here's the deal: the DA-88 used the original TDIF 1.0 spec, which did not carry word clock. The DA-38 (and all subsequent DTRS machines) used TDIF 1.1, which does carry word clock. So you definitely want clock to the 88's.
That said, if the 88's are slaved to the clock of either the 8000 or the 38's, all should be cool. I'm guessing you've got the 8000 as the clock master, in which case you shouldn't have any problems.
