Hey guys!
I have a question. Whenever I use the Cubase edit pitch / pitch correction tool it ends up turning the vocals into some irritating Techno type voice that sounds like it has been auto-tuned until death. How do I go about fixing this or better yet preventing it? Because lets face it, every vocalist will experience a time sooner or later when they sing a false note and it needs to be corrected. Anyways, thanks!
Cheers

Melodyne is the way to go if you absolutely have to fix pitch issues. I use it mostly for correcting timing myself, it's nice to be able to take a kick drum section (not the whole song...) that needs tightening up and test out different amounts of correction from 1 to 100% on the grid vs original.
That same feature is available with the pitch correction, so you don't have to just suck things right up to "perfect" pitch which can be boring to listen to in many cases, you can just adjust it exactly as much as it needs, and you can go in and fiddle with the exact pitch and timing of any note/hit.
Very fun program to have.
Also, I like to just yell at the singer until they get it right! (Use with caution)

If you ant to totally destroy a singer, just sing it better as he ever could to show him how it is supposed to sound. Works with any instrument, as well...lol
Peter Neubaecker is great visionaer and his crew at Munich-based Celemony has developed an amazing tool with Melodyne and DNA. The latest feature, the DNA, comes with the Editor VST plugin / stand-alone, but the studio version with a whole bag of new feature and by far superior to the Melodyne Editor will be released sometime early spring, he said. Upgrade is always possible.
For all who have not yet fiddled about with DNA... go to their homepage an have look at those clips...
No problem, if your mouth stays open for a while... mine did...lol... Bavaria rules!!!
