I need your help.........I want to record local Chicago musicians performing either a Pantera or Damageplan cover. I want to create a tribute CD from independent Chicago musicians to the band. I can't find contact information for Elektra records to get the rights to do this, and I'm not sure of the legal issues surrounding it. This is all going to be donated time, and the CD's sold at low costs in hopes to break even, but I don't care if I break even.

I wouldn't have been recording, playing guitar, or even with the girl of my dreams if it wasn't for Dimebag. Their music made me start playing guitar which led to being in a band which led to me meeting my girl which led to me leaving the band and starting to record. It's always been a dream of mine to work with Pantera and I think this might be my once chance to get as close as I can to touching the stars I've been reaching for since the first time I heard Cowboys from Hell.

I don't care about money...(I'm giving the time)....I don't care about credits....(I won't even put them on the CD if its an issue)....I just want to feel like I'm giving the due respect to the musicians that influence every last thing I've done in the past 13 years!

This was a sad day for me, but one that really kicked my butt into overdrive.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm more into old school metal (Sabbath etc.) but Pantera was one of a kind. Daryl was definitely a big influence on a lot of the newer players. It's a shame to see anyones life ended like that, but his music will live on.

I would love to record "I'm Broken" or "Planet Caravan" for the compilation.

You probably already know this but Planet Cavaran is a Black Sabbath song that Pantera covered as a tribute to Sabbath.
