The thing with bfd is you get the raw recording with the goods and the bads that comes with real drums. So you need to address the those as if you were mixing real drums.
I made a trial of BFD and that's what pushed me away. If I take a vst to go faster on a limited buget project, I don't want to spend hours with mixing drums. And someone having the budget will bring a real kit anyway.. (found Addictive drums easy and fast to work with)

Just route the BFD channels to your DAW channels and mix as you would mix real drums.
The pack you own really rocks and if you know how to mix your drum sound will shine!

Now, if you want the metallica sound its better to look for the Steven Slate Drums, I have the 3,5 Version with the black kit.
You can't find better samples to sound like metallica than these in my humble opinion.

But mix with the expansion you own they really worth it!
