The VMP is one channel the TwinTrak is two. Also the VMP has more things to play with. If you don't need to stereo track I'd go with the VMP between the two.

Those are pretty expensive door stops or paper weights. If you duct tape 3 or 4 together, you can use them for wheel chocks.

Gotta disagree here guys. I use a VMPro and it is not that far off from the sound of a Great River. I did a shootout of both of these and for the money the Focusrite is righteous. If I had the cash I would opt for the Great River of course because it does a better job on transients but not dramatically better.

Gotta ask if either of you have actually worked with the VMPro box or are just going off hearsay of their lesser models.

Im going against the grain here. I have a Pvmp and love it.

I use it for my vocals and bass occasionally for clean guitar (twangy Calif strat) and think it sounds great. Mind you my voice is weird, for instance I think it sounds 'orrible through an SM58 and great through an SM57.

I have also used it with and AKG C414 BXLII to mic my TSL100/4x12 which also sound lovely even at low volume !

I usually use a Shure KSM44 for my vox and again really like that combination.

Im not being disrespectful the the nay sayers as I cant say that I have ever plugged a Neumann, A C12 or a Blue Bottle into VMP so maybe this is why our opinions differ.

However if you don't have a load of top of the range mics, or a bank of top of the line pres to compare it with, give it a go. You may like it !!

I've owned the VMPro and used a Great River and I could tell a huge difference in the two. IMHO, I would rank the VMPro one spot above the ART DPS-II. The VMPro isn't worth it at all. The Brick is a much better toy. As soon as my Pell comes in, I'm going to buy me a couple.

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna go with the Brick here.

Everyones crazy about these bricks. I might even get one myself. What else do they sound good on other than bass guitar?
FYI---I already have an Avalon U5 and a SansAmp DI.

They've worked great on guitars (electric and acoustic), bass (electric and acoustic) and vocals for me thus far, but I haven't tried them on keyboards yet. Oh yeah, it worked extremely well on a Yamaha baby grand.

I'm looking at that brick as well, it says it's a di/instrument pre, but does anyone use it for a vocal pre? I see it's got a mic input there.

I have used it as a mic pre (said it in previous post :lol: ). I think for the price its unbeatable and better than a lot of pres even in the $600-$1000 street range.
