I'm brand new to this stuff, but I catch on quickly. I just bought a DIGI 001 and tried to install it, everything worked just fine, it was a breeze... until I tried to actually do something with PT LE, the whole screen froze up, it does this everytime, I can't even mess around with it for more than a minute before it freezes up. THe manual said to close any programs running in the background and I did, but the same problem kept occuring. Any Ideas? I have a PC with 512 memory and a 30 gig hard drive, a burner, all the works.

Thanks Mark, from what I remember, my CPU is an Athlon T Bird 1200.
My motherboard is an ECS K7VZA Socket A. 133 mhz fsb. It has a VIA VT8363/VT8363A (NB) and VT82C686A/VT82C686B (SB) Chipset.
The only PCI card I have in there is the DIGI 001 card and it's in slot number 13.
I have a 32mb video card in the AGP 1 slot.
I only have 1 hard drive, a Western Digital, 7200 and it's a master.
I don'tknow anything about IRQ's but in the CMOS Setup Utility, I see an IRQ enabled for VGA and for USB, is that any help?

OK
It's most likely that your motherboard is the problem. Grab one with a KT133A or KT266A chipset.
Also USB can cause problems. Disable it completely if you don't need it.
I have my 001 card in PCI slot 3 (3rd along from AGP) which on my board puts it in IRQ 9.
Have a search through Windows help for IRQ information. You should be able to get a list of what is using what IRQ in your system. My motherboard has a software utility that tells me, but I'm sure Windows will tell you if you find where to look. Move the 001 card around untill it has an IRQ all to itself. Preferably 9 or 10 seem to work best.
Your single hard disk won't cause your current problems, but it will give you performance hassles down the track, so look at getting a dedicated audio drive.
Try the other things before you go changing your motherboard, but I'm fairly confident that that's what your problem will be.

For IRQ Settings go to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Info/Hardware/IRQ and copy and paste them here or on the DUC. I've not seen anyone use that motherboard you have with success, but there is always a first. Here are more motherboards to use with Digi001:
A7M266
GA7DX
I recommend using the Promise ATA100 TX2 controller card for 23.00 with the GA7DX or A7M266. The others listed above come with an onboard Promise RAID lite controller that can be used as an ATA100 controller also. GA7DX is selling for 69.00 now and is one of the top performers with PTLE.
You can pick up a second ATA100 7200rpm drive now fairly inexpensively. http://www.newegg.com is selling the IBM 60GXP 60GB ATA100 7200rpm drives for around 100.00 now. Stay away from the IBM 75GXP series and the new Seagate drives.
Good luck.

Move the 001 card around till it appears in IRQ 9. On my board that is PCI slot 3. I don't think that will help though because it's fine in 10.
I think it's going to have to be a new MOBO.
Any of the suggestions above will work fine. Just make sure you get the Promise card if you go with one of Allen's suggestions.

Hi Stone

Motherboard & Chipset
What PCI cards do you have installed and what number slots are they in.
Do you have any other hardware attached and where are they plugged in.
How many hard drives and are they master or slave.
Also a IRQ list if you know where to get that.
Digidesign is very picky about what hardware you run and where you plug it in etc. so we should be able to sort this out for you.
