Hi all. This is my first post here and my name (GreenGuy) says it all... I'm green when it comes to this stuff.
I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions coming in the future.. but here's my first: If I record at 24bit/96, aproximately how many tracks will I be able to playback in Pro Tools with a 1.5GHz, 768mb ram, G4 Powerbook?
If I plan on using 5... 10... 15 or so plugins, how much will that limit the ammount of tracks I use?
I understand there are a lot of other factors to consider that can't be answered, but I'm just trying to get an aproximation here so I can plan ahead somewhat and have some idea of what I can expect.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated! :)

About two years ago I recorded 16 tracks (24 / 44.1) at once during 2 h.
PowerBook Ti ,667MHz, 1 G Ram, Cubase SX 1, Waves and TC-Native Plugins.
RME Hammerfall Multiface and a Adi8 via Adat. External FireWire HD.
Playback with some masterbus plugins and some send effect plugins.
No problem at all.
CPU about 75%.
Perhaps this will help you ?
Have fun.
