So I'm recording drums. Kit sounds pretty darn good. I have issues with my floor toms getting a lot of kick bleed. The kit is set up rather tight but not too tight. I have had some feedback on either muting the track in beetween tom hits, gating the tracks, or, "ducking," a track during tom hits.

Thanks for your time.

more often than not these days tom mics are silenced when toms aren't hit. Kick bleed during these moments will not be a problem, escpeically when other instruments are in too. everything bleeds. I almost always gate by hand, rather than use a gate, i'm anal like that. It often saves time and effort if the toms are hit at a large range of volumes. often the snare will trigger your gates etc etc etc. Edit out tom mic when you don't need it and fade out its tail. Dont be too fussy about this, when all the other mics and instruments are playing some ruf and ready fading will be fine.

peace.
