ok here's what i've got to sound the best(or most like other production out there)
KICK- goes these plugins in this sequence:
1. EQ (notching bad frequencies out, low/highshelving for thump)
2. Gate (obviously, isolating the kick)
3. COMPRESSOR (2-1 ratio, threshold with gain reduction down about 10db, attack is 23ms release is 120 ms and hard-knee.
SNARE gets:
1. EQ (smoothing out the spectral reading, and boosting the sweet spots)
2. Gate (isolating the snare)
3. Compressor (ratio 1.6-1 reducing at around 6db. attack 4.5ms release 34ms soft knee)
4. Reverb (just to add some life)
does this all seem right, or am i doing something wrong here?
any comments are greatly appreciated! :D
Seems as good a chain as any, but you basically answered your ow
Seems as good a chain as any, but you basically answered your own question... If it sounds good, you've reached your goal. As far as the actual order of processors, EQ->Gate->Compressor(->Reverb) is a commonly used/accepted order.
If you're getting the result you want, you should never worry about whether what you're doing is right - it is ;). A hit will still be a hit, regardless of how it got there.
