I have a M-Audio Omni Studio (delta 66 SC) .. What do you guys think of this card?

Also, what mic preamp and mic would you recommend for it, i mean is it worth buying gigh tech gear for it, or the card is not worth anything. Besides the mic and pre what other gear would you recommend.. for the mic and pre, i was thinking of the AT 4040 and a FMR RNP and RNC ..
PLease help on anything ..

Hello,
I had an Omni i/o witht the Delta66 card a while back and I found the interface pretty useful. Basicly, if you don't own a stand alone mixer, an Omni interface is a nice choice because it allows you to monitor hardware in your studio as well as easily route things in and out of your computer. For me, I decided that I didn't want to be stuck with a PCI card for portability reasons so I went USB based with the MBox. I did some basic tests on the preamps and found them to be pretty clean for their price range but "added" nothing to the incoming signal. I wasn't a huge fan for the software interface, particularly when saving settings, but it wasn't bad. 2 h.p. jacks are handy especially when you want to record someone and be able to monitor it yourself if, like in my case, the musician was playing right beside me (mic i/p) while I was recording into my pc. I think that it's a good setup in general and very respectable.
As far as an external preamp is concerned, I never used one so would be interested to hear what anyone else has used as well on that particular interface. Just for curiosity, what price range of a preamp would you be in the market for, I may be able to suggest a few if you could reply back with some requirements...
Best regards,
