I've seen in MOTU's site some of the HD192's specs that seem to outperform the 896 HD. I wonder if anybody has had a chance to make an A/B comparison between these two units.
Stuff like "192-kHz converters in the HD192 are the very same used in more expensive HD systems. With 120dB A-weighted dynamic range and a THD+N of 0.0005%" isn't said about the 896HD.
The 896 HD is a more flexible interface, with mixer functions and loads of I/O, but if the converters are inferior, I'd rather go for an HD192.
Down the road, as budget allows, I'll be getting dedicated preamps and maybe a Big Ben. So the preamps on the 896HD aren't really that attractive to me.
Any thoughts?
Thanks 8-)
