Athlon's clock speeds and Celeron's clock speeds are deceiving.

Athlon performs a lot faster than the speed would imply and the Celeron's are consistent under-performers.

We run a celeron and are just biding our time so we can afford something decent and hopefully never have to think of that veleron word again.......

In relation to your question.... I have found that laptops in general (and this is a very broad in general) do not run quite as well as desktops.... but that is only my limited experience.
