Well,

SATA is I belive in it's second stage and it's planned final stage is somewhere around late 2004-early 2005.

At that point the third stage will be somewhat close to what the speeds should be incorporated with the newer chipsets and systems to truly take advantage of it.

Since any new protcol must go through its debugging stage it's best to wait things out.

Also the third stage will allow more than one drive to be attaced to one connector on the motherboard! At that point it would be viable to use as you thus start to plan to get rid of IDE connections!

Alos hard drive speeds for SATA will be 10K and up at that point and running quite smooth!

I believe the best time to really start getting into SATA is with the new PCI protocol boards coming out next year. At that point you're looking at 1GHz and up FSB with L2 cahces of 1MB and up as well.

Couple that with SATA and you are looking at a really powerful system that will make the G5's look not so powerful as they may seem! HA HA HA HA! Of course at half the price as well as what ever components "YOU" want to put in them and not what "THEY" want you to have in it! :D
