My Drawmer noise gate finally crapped out on me after quite awhile of reliable use. (I bought it used anyway so who knows how much time it had on it with the previous owner). I'm planning to replace our studio with another Drawmer gate as I definitely think they make the best workhorse noise gates (I like the Aphex gates also...dont like the lack of a meter on the Aphex though). .
. Anyway, I am looking to get a seperate cheapo' gate for playing shows. something cmore inspexnsive than the Drawmers but still good. so I've narrowed it down to either the Rane quad gate or the PreSonus quad gate. I'm inclined to go with Rane as I'm a fan of their equipment for reliability. but would consider PreSonus...
Just wondering if anyone had any particular opinions on the PreSonus gate. I'm not a fan of their equipment in general. . the thermal noise of some of their units is very high whcih I dont like. . but. . just seeking opinions if anyone has used their gates. Thanks.

I used some Presonus stuff and was not impressed. The gates tend to take a bit of that initial attack away. Definitely no good for drums. I'd stick with the Aphex gates. They're cheap and work well.
