A second faster drive strictly for audio would be a good, fairly inexpensive solution.

my first thouguts are your processor isn't up to it - what's it's L2 cache??
secondly, you need a much quicker drive.
for good reliable performance, i'd at least double the "minimum" system requirements anyway.

A 5400RPM drive is definately not going to cut it..especially on Win2k...7200RPM IDE or SCSI is the minimum you shoudl be working with...also having two drives is definately important as well..make sure both drives are on seperate IDE cables if you are using two internal IDE drives...also as everyine else is saying..give us more info on your system...

i agree, more info is needed.
i can tell you tho, i had a k63 250 mhz, 128mb ram, and i could record at very least a few tracks onto a scsi jaz drive with cubase...i don't think nuendo's *that* much more resource-hungry. you probably won't get squat for effects, but you should be able to get at least a few tracks going if you get another drive strictly to record audio to. the faster the drive, the better.

I find it odd that someone with such a low spec computer has the coin to get Nuendo without upgrading his/her system at the same time.

You need a better system... EXPECIALLY if you are running Win2K. Nuendo likes to have 256 megs of ram to work well, along with a fast processor. Remember this is a host bast DAW.... not a TDM system. All the processing is done on the processor.

I own an Aptiva PIII 500 MHz 256 MB RAM and partitioned ultra DMA HD 7200 rpm... just to test the system I mixed 13 stereo songs together (didn't have more at the time on my HD), automated and effected many of them, everything OK. Last night I recorded some tracks 96 KHz 24 bits... flawless. One thing that's processor consuming is the use of VST instruments, and BTW I couldn't solve the tremendous latency problem arised here :(
Nuendo's help file suggested that we redcord with some other MIDI device and then play back with VST instrument... what kind of a solution is that? That was disapointing. The VST instrument I use is Native Instrument's Battery, which as a stand alone instrument solves this latency problem by obviously decreasing buffer values, but inside Nuendo there seems to be no solution but the one mentioned above (crap). What a pitty for such a good app and cool virtual sampler. I guess I'll try Gigastudio or something like that; hope there won't be conflicts. The card I use is an ASIO Echo Mona. Any thoughts?
