hello,
i don't know thing about recording, and i was wondering if y'all can help me on that.
i've heard that an amp could be hooked up to one's computer for recording, but i don't know how to hook it up, i have a fender hot rod deville amp, i fear i might damage the amp or the computer.
also i've tried to use my digitech rp100 to connect to the computer's line in, mic and other into holes, but it just won't give me good results only sometimes random results which is very frustrating.
i'm wondering if i need to buy an actual guitar workstation like pod xt, boss gt-8 or gnx4, i've heard gnx4 could give me a good result, and even has a large drum library with a recording software.
any help would be great

Only connect your guitar amp to your computer if you want to destroy the computer and possibly your guitar amp.
If all you want to record is guitar, you can either:
1) Get an amp modeller, like a Pod or a Vox Tonebank and plug it into your computer's sound card (better yet, get a good sounding audio interface) or...
2) Get a mic, preamp and sound card and mic your amp.
The purist in me tells you to go with option 2. There's another thread on this board about the cheapest way to combine preamp, soundcard and headphone mix. I think it's an M-audio solution.
