I'm a newbie.. and just trying to lay down some tracks at home with sonarXL. How do I add a new track that doesn't pick up sound from previous tracks. When I add new track with new instrument I hear the previous on the same track.
Don't flame me. I'm new to this .
Thanks for any help that might come my way.

Starcrawler, I think you'll find that this is a really great community full of folks willing to help. The only people that get flamed around here are the ones that deserver it, lol. So, no worries there.
First off - Welcome to RO.
Next - A couple of things could cause this, but it's most likely the soundcard doing it for ya. What kind of soundcard do you have? I have a Soundblaster Audigy. I also had the same problem when I started up. By default the record input is set to "What You Hear". That allows Sonar to record everything you're soundcard puts through it(i.e. the tracks for playback get recorded too). If your soundcard has a similar feature, changing it might solve the problem.
Last, but not least - Without knowing a l'il more about you setup(computer, soundcard, ect.) it's kinda hard to narrow it down. Check to see what your soundcard's record input is set to. If that doesn't help, get back here with some more info about your system. If it fixxes the problem, get back here and let us know. lol. :D
