For what it's worth, my first Soundelux mic will be the u195 in the not too distant future.

As mentioned above by the Tree, I'll be grabbing it from Atlas.

i bought my soundelux mic at mercenary. when i got it the top fell off in my hand and the people at mercenary were great at getting soundelux to fix the mic. i couln't believe their attenteion and servise so that is the only pleace i go for gear these days

I own an iFet7, a brilliant mic warm vox and excellent on a kick drum. I highly recommend Soundelux, my next big purchase will be either the e49 or the e251c. Try one out, you won't be disappointed.

mic for voice

The key with voice is to find the right mic for a particular voice. There are great mics that sound like horse excrement on one voice, and beautiful on another. Thus, you have two options. 1) Experiment, 2) buy a mic that can deliver a lot of different sounds.

I have found that differnt parts of your body wil make different parts of the sound. Thus, distance from the mic and/or pattern, will make an important difference.

Another thing to recognice is that certain mics are classic for voice overs. The radio market is a big market for mics, so there are a lot of mics optimized for male voice. From the re20 to the blue mouse.

The main thing that makes a radio mic is some attention to the fact that proximity effect should not vary - (and an inch matters). So some mics made for radio have proximity effect compensation.

If you feel like you can stay close then a lot of mics will do, or, if you have a great room, then you can use an omni, and proximity erffect will not matter (omnis don't have it, much).

If you are not sure of this stuff, then buy a mic designed for male voice overs. I have heard the new Neumann BCM, Blue mouse, RE20, PL20, etc, and I think the Mouse kicks the ass of all those mics for my voice. Its also the most expensive of all those.

I might consider the at 4047sv and a pop filter instread of any of them, if you can get within 6 inches and stay there. (and price is an object)

Finally, many tube mics will have a variable pattern. This is a great asset because you can dial in a pattern big enough to "hear" the parts of your body that you want to hear, but small enough to exclude the room. Any mic with a 9 position or continuous pattern (from omni, thru cardioid to fig8) will do this.

This also gives you flexibility on frequency response, since the different patterns also have different frequency response AND proximity effect. t.
