My question pertains to the S/PDIF digital interface, as used in my Aardvark Q10 sound cards.
Q: Is this a straight-through digital interface, digital source-thru Q10-to computer?
Speculating... down the road I buy an A/D converter that would make the high-endboys proud. Assuming this converter has S/PDIF outs, can I run it through my Q10 S/PDF interface and into the computer without degradation?

S/PDIF stands for Sony/Phillips Digital Interface. It is a 2 channel digital protocol. It is used to transfer audio digitally between two devices. It can either be on a Coaxial (RCA) connector, or on a Toslink (fiber optic) connector. It can carry up to 2 channels of 24bit 96kHz.

If your synth actually has an S/PDIF output on it, that would be the way to go. I am not very familiar with synths, so I don't know if any have S/PDIF out on them or not.

this might be the stupidest question of all times: how does it look like? my korg x5d synth has the two rca audio ports, the midi ones, and an additional one (called "to host PC") that looks like the ones for computer mouses or keyboards. could that be the one?
