Just recently ordered and returned a SPX2000. I thought it would be much, much better with all the reviews on the new REV-X algo..
Unfortunately, IMO, it still sounded pretty unnatural and metallic. I could even hear some metallic rings in the tails on the new algo's.
Loved the old SPX series for guitar but for all around studio use, it may be one of those "situational" units that I already have too many of! The Rumour is still the best new cheap reverb by a long shot. It sounds professional and can be used effectively on vocals.
Also have recently picked up a TC M4000 and it is really a beautiful piece for the money. Some of the presets are still a little tame and can get lost in the mix but you can beef them up with lots of parameters to adjust. It has some EMT presets that have a lot of power especially the 250 simulation.
As discussed here many times, I hope Lexicon comes out with a stereo, cheaper version of their 960. Good luck!
