i'm wondering if anybody has run into a similar problem.
i have novation usb midi keyboard that i use with an old version of reason.
when i used to run this setup on my ibm thinkpad, the usb connection worked just fine to run the midi keyboard. but when i started to use this new Sony vaio laptop, it would never recognize the midi keyboard thru the usb port. i always have to use a m-audio uno and go thru the midi ports.
i would really like to just use the usb port...
has anybody else run into this?

it isn't a matter of power but more of a usb issue.
my laptop has a built in webcam with mic.
this utilizes the usb driver that is required for the novation usb midi keyboard to be recognized by winxp...
so i guess i'll have to disable the webcam to work the novation!!

Is it possible that the USB port doesn't have enough power to power the keyboard directly? I would think that if you use a power supply along with the keyboard, it should be recognized fine. (I'm gussing that you have to use and external power supply when going thru the Uno.
