Hi am a Cubase sx user.. i use the Wavescompressor a lot on my drums and vocals..it does wonders i must say sometimes.. but i would wana try out something with my snare using the side chain thing u can use on a hardware comp.. what i want to do is this.. i want to use a static noise and side chain it to my snare .. so when ever the snare opens i want the static to open along with it. just how do i get to do this? is it possible in a software based compressor? or is there any other plugin that would be able to do this apart from a Waves compressor
thanx for the help

Ancient BUMP! I am also looking for VST or DX compressor plug ins that allow a different track to feed the sidechain. This was the first partially relevant thread that came up in 8 full pages of searching, and there are no replies (except for this one)!

I use Nuendo, and none of its built in compressor plugs have an assignable sidechain, and none of the Waves stuff seems to have this feature, either.

What VST/DX compressor plugs are avalible with an assignable sidechain? I want to mess with ducking the Bass Guitar with the Kick Drum. If my Roland VS-2480 can do this, then I certainly hope there is a simple way to do this in Nuendo  ...

I was going to add that (The fact that the original poster needed a GATE for his "White Noise Snare Trick", but hell - Sidechain was mentioned, and this was after 10 pages of searching, so I ran with it  ). Anyway, I just want to mess with Ducking the Bass Guitar (compressing the Bass with the Kick's signal feeding the sidechain), so a compressor is what I need...

Also, I'm not really looking at the UAD-1 or PowerCore DSP cards even if they do have sidechain compressors, as I have 2 systems that will both need access to the plugs at different times (One Tracking System, one Mixing System), and I'm not big on Firewire for audio (Powercore FW, that is).

Thanks for any input.

I'll look into it (never heard of it til now). Does this have an assignable sidechain? I looked at the website, and it did not mention assignable sidechain (for ducking purposes).

Any other VST/DX compressors with assignable sidechain inputs? There has to be one, right? Or is this a "TDM-only" thing  . My Roland VS-2480 could do this, so I really hope I have VST/DX options now that I use my Shuttle PC as my DAW...

Thanks for the info, crunk...
