Looking for people's opinions in this area. I have searched and carefully read an older thread here comparing Melodyne to Autotune, but troughout my searching have found little information about Waves Tune.
I have a Digi 002, Pro Tools LE, Waves Gold plugins. I mainly record rock, but do other projects too.
I used autotune once maybe a year ago, and when it could correct automatically it worked fine, but I found it very hard to use if I ever had to manually correct a track.
I tried the demo for Melodyne about a year ago too, and although it was really cool and in my opinion easier to do manual edits, it didn't integrate well with a Pro Tools session- I had to manually open Melodyne and import the vocal track for tuning.
I know Waves Tune is pretty hot off the press, and Melodyne has some serious updates too. I haven't really had a chance to check either of them out recently.
Sooooo, to recap my situation.
1. I am mainly interested in pitch correction for vocals, not so much in harmonizing, (although that could be a plus).
2. I also want software that is easy to use manually if the singer is more than a little off.
3. I would prefer to use the software as an RTAS plugin during a Pro Tools session.
4. I want the highest quality (i.e. most transparent sounding) pitch correction I can buy.
Is there anybody that has used one or more of these plugins that can offer feedback for my situation, based on these criteria? I am especially curious about Waves Tune.

Although it was flashy, I actually felt like the vocals in the music on the video sounded sort of false in their tuning, which I thought was strange since the video is supposed to be promoting the quality of the Waves Tune plugin. Maybe it was just the low bitrate encoding, I don't know. I do, however, know that Waves has a stellar reputation for sound quality and I use their Gold plugins all the time. As far as I am concerned, Waves Tune is really the plugin I am the most curious about. I haven't seen much user feedback anywhere on it. So, if anybody has any experience actually using it, that would be most helpful.
I have never done anything with Rewire (as far as I know) in Pro Tools. How exactly would I use Melodyne with rewire? Can somebody walk me through this?

Having used the Waves Tune plug in I can tell you first hand it is very nice.
One thing to note is that you have to play the vocal part through first to scan it into the plug in then you can go ahead and tweak away.
Also note that it does require a decent video card since it is a graphics hog.
Other than those issues it's very flexible, sounds great and IMHO is worth it.

H2O's motto of try before you buy, really hitz home on this one.

First, Pro Tools has Rewire, and Melodyne has Rewire, so couldn't you integrate it that way? I've never tried it, but it seems like it should work.
The reason you haven't heard much about Waves Tune is because it just came out. When I watched the video on the Waves site, I left with the impression that it was nothing Melodyne didn't already do. I have not tried it though. If you haven't seen that video, watch it.
After having worked with both Autotune and Melodyne, I definitely prefer Melodyne. It's extremely easy to use and extremely powerful. The ease of manual use is the big seller for me. Also, I find the sound quality to be very good.
