If your rapper is a spitter, get a SM57. Otherwise (as we discussed in the other thread), a good basic condenser is a good place to start, and add on from there. It never hurts to keep a 57 in the locker, though, for those guys who just don't know how to say it without spraying it. :D

The Sony G800 tube condenser is a popular one for male rappers. I think I remember someone telling me this is what Eminem uses and what Dr. Dre usually chooses (I COULD BE WRONG!!)

It's about 7K. It's a bit bulky, though. I tried it out against a custom U-47 and a 250 and it didn't compare well. It's too hyped in the lows and has a false dirty high-end. Not my cup of tea, but if it works for Eminem - well, can't argue with his success.
