Okay, here's the deal; I've got a new R&B group I'll be recording and it's a good oppurtunity for me. Currently my mic closet is overcrowed with me single SP C1:) which serves me well as it's my sole workhorse, but I'm looking to increase my choices. These guy's I'm going to be recording have smooth voices and I'd like to give them a little flavor. Now my budget is about $300-350 at this time, but that's not to say a blessing may come in the mean time. The 2 mics I'm looking at are the SP TB1 or the MXL-v69, both tube joints to contrast the C1 and give alternatives.
I'm already familiar with SP products, I've also heard good things about the MXL.
Quick, informative 411 would be greatly appreciated as I'll be making this purchase ASAP. We go into the studio next weekend.

Thanks Mike for the response. The reason I picked those two mic's is because of my present budget. Now if I get an expected surgence of revenue between now and Monday, than I will be looking upward in price. But I nedd to make this purchase early enough to allow for shipping .

Juz jokin...seriously though, that $300-350 range is where I'm at right now. So I'm kind of focused in that area, but I'm open just in case I get an influx of 'CHEDDAR" over the weekend before I order.
I do appreciate all the suggestions, because if their not used now, they will be in the future as I make purchases down the road.

Check out this link. I've bought several Rode mics from him - a one man business. My K2 was over $100 less than internet mega stores and had free shipping. I got a used NT1000 for $200 with free ship.
He has AKG and Rodes and maybe more by now but is reliable and a prompt shipper.
I know it's not really kosher to recommend businesses in this manner, but I have nothing to benefit from this.
His prices are [or at least were] lower than any others I found. You might just try e-mailing him your price range and your needs to see if it can do anything for you.

its willgive you a nice vocal.Its not real heavey in the bass and the top end is smooth and detaied .For me I have never EQed these 2 mics.I think im gunna get the C3 too.
